Early Post Secondary Opportunities

Take college-level courses through a partnering college or university while still in high school. These courses count for both high school and college credit and may be offered online, on a college campus, or at the high school. Dual Enrollment helps students build a college transcript early and may be funded through the Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant.

Dual Enrollment Program Options

University of the Cumberlands – Dual Credit Program

Students can take affordable dual credit courses online, on campus, or at Jellico High School. Courses count toward both high school and college graduation requirements.

Roane State Community College – Dual Studies

Roane State offers a wide range of dual enrollment courses that help students transition smoothly into college. Courses are available in general education and career pathways.

TCAT – Jacksboro (Tennessee College of Applied Technology)

TCAT Jacksboro provides hands-on technical training through dual enrollment programs that prepare students for high-demand careers. Programs are eligible for the Dual Enrollment Grant.

 

Local Dual Credit courses are high school classes that offer students the opportunity to earn college credit by passing a locally developed exam or meeting specific criteria set by a partnering college or university. These courses are taught by high school teachers using college-aligned curriculum.

Jellico High School offers Early Postsecondary Opportunities (EPSOs) that provide hands-on training and industry-recognized certifications in high-demand fields.

Roane State Community College – Middle College

Roane State’s Middle College allows selected high school students to earn an Associate of Science degree while completing their high school diploma. Students attend college-level courses and graduate high school as college juniors.
